Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program

  • The Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program is designed for individuals who have undergone joint replacement or spine surgery, experienced a multiple medical trauma with musculoskeletal injury, or sustained bone trauma. In the SSM Health Day Institute Program, patients benefit from the combined knowledge and multidisciplinary intervention of both physical and occupational therapies which allow them to receive more skilled therapy in comparison to tradition outpatient services. Our goal – directed approach tailors treatment to help patients gain functional improvements.

    • Physical therapy treatment focuses on: lower extremity range of motion, lower extremity and core strengthening, gait and transfer training, balance training, endurance training and wheelchair mobility if necessary.
    • Occupational therapy focuses on: upper extremity range of motion, strengthening and coordination, conditioning, energy conservation/ work simplification, adaptive strategies for daily activities, home/work modifications and return to driving skills.
    • Depending on individual needs and goals, patient may benefit from electrical stimulation, assistive equipment and technologies, pain management or orthotic and prosthetic services.
