Are you are getting ready to begin your care at one
of our local centers? The following information will guide you through
your first visit and introduce you to the physical rehabilitation
process. Here's what to expect.
Most patients come to us with a prescription for
physical therapy that was issued by their physician. This prescription
is similar in form to what you take to the drugstore for medicine --
and includes recommendations for treatment.
User our center locator to locate a center convenient to your work or home. Call the center of choice to schedule your initial evaluation.
When you call to schedule your first appointment, we'll ask you
for your insurance information. Then, as a courtesy, we will call
your insurance company to verify your benefit coverage and we'll review
this information with you before you begin your first visit.
We usually recommend that patients wear looser-fitting exercise clothing and sneakers for maximum comfort.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time to
complete your new patient registration forms. When you arrive at the
center, the patient service specialist will greet you and review the
forms. The specialist will schedule all of your appointments and
collect your co-payment (if applicable) at each visit.
You will meet with a physical or occupational/hand
therapist who will evaluate your injury or condition, discuss your goals
and specific needs and develop an individualized treatment plan.
The length of your treatment plan and frequency of
visits is based on your specific injury/condition, the physician
prescription, your insurance plan and the therapist’s recommended
You may be provided with a home exercise program that
complements your plan of care. The home program is an important part of
the healing process and will assist you in achieving your goals.
Your therapist will maintain regular contact with your
doctor, surgeon and/or case manager to ensure timely updates on your
