  • The SLU-SSM Health Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency

    The SLU-SSM Health Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency is a 12-month post-professional program designed to advance the knowledge, skills, and attributes of licensed physical therapists in orthopedics as described by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists' Description of Specialty Practice. Education encompasses didactic and psychomotor instruction at Saint Louis University (SLU) and SSM Health Physical Therapy in face to face, online, and small group formats. The resident participates in mentored patient care with expert clinicians at both Saint Louis University and SSM Health Physical Therapy in orthopedic settings. The graduates of this residency are prepared to sit for the Orthopedic Specialty Examination (OCS).

    Program highlights include:

    • Compensation and benefits package

    • Participation as lab instructor for SLU Program in Physical Therapy
    • Small group classroom and manual skills instruction, facilitated discussion, and journal club
    • Independent mentorship in specialty topics within field of orthopedics
    • Clinic rounding, surgery observation and grand rounds with physicians
